Gastronomy of the region

The region is a gastronomic destination, its star product is the Iberian ham, regulated by the D.O. Dehesa de Extremadura and part of the Iberian Ham Route Product Club. Its cheeses are part of the D.O. Torta del Casar, we point out the Valdefuentes cream or the torta de Botija and Almoharín included in the Extremadura Cheese Route. The wines of pitarra or under the D.O. Rivera del Guadiana and the oils of the mountains are other products to highlight, without forgetting the figs of Almoharín and its exquisite fig bonbon. In the plains: lamb, roast suckling pig or rice with hare, and of course the products derived from hunting, especially the different culinary varieties of partridge and deer.
