Description
The route through the Dehesa Boyal of Santa Marta de Magasca proposes a circular itinerary of about 5 km that runs through a natural environment of great value, integrated into the Magasca SPA, a protected area due to the abundance of steppe and riverside birds. The path crosses oak groves and wide plains, a landscape that reflects the essence of the rural environment of Extremadura.
As you approach the Gibranzos river, the landscape changes completely: denser and more humid riverside vegetation appears, serving as a refuge for numerous species of birds, mammals, and reptiles. At this meeting point between ecosystems, it is possible to observe representative fauna such as the Montagu''s harrier, the lesser kestrel, the Egyptian vulture, or the black stork, a vulnerable species that finds a safe place here.
It is a simple route, without notable slopes, perfect to enjoy in any season. The final stretch, among gentle hills, offers wide panoramas and the characteristic tranquility of the Extremaduran countryside, where nature and conservation coexist in balance.
