The Surprise of Arroyomolinos, Historical Recreation

Declared a Regional Tourist Interest Event, this historical reenactment commemorates the clash of October 28, 1811, during the Spanish War of Independence, when the allied Spanish, British, and Portuguese troops defeated a Napoleonic division led by General Girard. Every last weekend of October, the municipality transforms into a historical stage with over four hundred reenactors dressed in period uniforms, participating in parades, urban skirmishes, and the final reenactment of the battle. The active participation of the local community, recreating professions, markets, and everyday scenes from the 19th century, enhances the cultural, educational, and tourist value of this prominent event.
