Description
The Bread and Cheese Festival commemorates the battle of 1234 between Arabs and Christians, which ended with the victory of the latter. As a reward for their triumph, the victors received bread and goat cheese, elements that today give name and prominence to the celebration.
During the festival, various cultural and recreational activities take place, such as hiking trails, guided tours of the municipality, and free tastings of tapas inspired by Arab and Christian gastronomy, bringing attendees closer to the local history and tradition.
A central element of the celebration is the Tabúa, a plant that Christians threw at each other to celebrate the victory. Its use turns the streets of the town into a white blanket, creating a unique visual spectacle and representative of the historical tradition that is kept alive with this festival.
