Description

Villasviejas del Tamuja is one of the most monumental and representative examples of the phenomenon of pre-Roman hillforts in the Iberian Peninsula. Its relevance is based on the long trajectory of systematic research carried out at the site, efforts that continue to be relevant through new scientific projects. The Interpretation Center of Villasviejas del Tamuja plays an essential role in the enhancement and dissemination of the site. Its facilities feature a permanent exhibition whose contents have been developed in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeology of Mérida. This cooperation ensures the incorporation of the most recent results and the continuous updating of the exhibition discourse. The center is an indispensable complement to the visit to the site, as it facilitates the understanding of the enclave, its historical evolution, and its cultural framework. Visits to both the Interpretation Center and the archaeological site are handled by the municipal staff and require prior appointment, which must be requested by phone call during the usual council hours.
